Aside from Christmas being so near, the months of September through October are some of the best. If you’re a TV show nerd like me, then fall in the US would probably be one of your favorite seasons too. At about this time, all my favorite TV shows make a comeback for new seasons, making the two to three-month drought seem to have just been part of ancient history.
I happily bookmarked all my favorites via a Series Tracker app called Side Reel, and thus far it has been heaven-sent! It’s an understatement to say how giddy I felt when I started to receive my daily dose of emails reminding me of when I could watch (
actually, download) the episodes again.
Some of the defunct shows I tuned into were almost all girly. Top billing that list was my first official favorite, Charmed. It was a story of three magical sisters, well, witches. Tuned into that one religiously on Studio 23 since downloading and DVDs came in later. Prior to that, I also enjoyed watching Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Friends, and Dawson’s Creek, but I didn’t follow them as much.
Then, as I turned 15, One Tree Hill came and it has been stuck on my list since. I’ve always rooted for the Lucas-Peyton loveteam, and even when the actors didn’t renew their contracts, I still saw myself addicted to the story. It was sad to see the show end last season, but I guess the finale was done at the right time.
Just this year, my Mom (who is a bigger TV show nerd than I am) got me caught up in another series, Jane by Design. Sadly, this one was not renewed for a second season. 😦
I thought it would be fun to make a blog post on the shows that I currently follow, so here they all are (arranged alphabetically).
90210 is something that my Mom and I watch together. I love the storylines, Naomi’s quirks, Annie and Silver’s fashion choices, Adrianna’s music and of course Liam’s body (Oops, did I just say that out loud?)
Since I saw their version of Rehab on YouTube, I couldn’t help but tune in to see what they remade next. Although I must admit at times, the storyline does gets a little hazy and the flow is not as flawlessly connected. Still, I keep coming back for more song remakes and of course, couldn’t help myself from drooling over Lea Michele’s awesome set of pipes. It also helps that this season they got Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker as guest stars.
Now here’s something that’s got me glued since day 1. Who wouldn’t want to maybe just for one day be in the shoes of New York’s rich, famous and not to mention, gorgeous? Blair’s sense of style, her antics, and how the character seems to be shaped so perfectly for Leighton Meester to play, makes her my favorite. This time, it’s their last season, so I cannot wait to see how things would go down at the Upper East Side.
How I Met Your Mother is special because this is one of the shows that all my friends love as well. They’re one of the best group of friends on TV ever! It’s LEGEN-wait for it-DARY!
Who wouldn’t fall in love with the New Girl, Jess, who is so cute and naive and quirky all at the same time. Zooey Deschanel is perfect for the role. I love her vintage-inspired style, and her gorgeous hair! Schmidt is also one hell of a character. Cracks me up everytime.
As a kid growing up exposed to Disney and fairy tales, Once Upon a Time is a nice twist to the usual damsel-in-distress-saved-by-Prince-Charming-and-they-lived-happily-ever-after plots. Season 2 just started and the story is getting more and more exciting.
It was my friend X who introduced me to this one. And I must say, their comebacks are some of the fastest ones on TV comedy. I love Sheldon and his inability to grasp sarcasm even if it stared him in the face, Wolowitz and his belt buckles, Raj and his can’t-talk-when-girls-are-around, and Leonard and his innocently geeky personality.
And of course, the most exciting of them all. Gorgeous women, hot men, Vampires, Werewolves and Witches. Need I say more?
What are your favorite shows?
